stylist assistant

hair rules new york is seeking assistants, dedicated to the craft of hairdressing. this position can be full or part-time and will allow the assistant to gain knowledge in all areas of hair care and hair styling for multiple textures.

responsibilities including, but not limited to:

maintaining a high level of customer service.
managing greeting/check-in process for all clients.
assist stylists in all areas of hairdressing, i.e. shampooing, applying relaxers/texturizers, blow drying, curly styles, etc.
analyze customer's hair texture to determine and recommend appropriate services.
update and maintain customer records as services are performed.
keep salon maintained and sanitized as instructed by management.
communicating the hair rules brand and product knowledge to clients with confidence.
closing all retail sales and monitoring strategic sampling and up-selling.
assisting in all areas of salon operation as requested by management.
regularly attending and participating in training and staff meetings.

position requirements:

must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task and work independently.
ability to be efficient and productive in a fast-paced environment.
must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
excellent communication, listening and computer skills.
must have a current, valid ny state cosmetology license.
minimum 1 year prior experience.
ability to style multiple hair textures.
